Graceful and dignified, Women’s Traditional dancers honor the strength and resilience of Native women. Their regalia includes long buckskin or cloth dresses with fringe, intricate beadwork, and accessories like shawls or fans—each step grounded, deliberate, and full of respect.
Often called the “butterfly dance,” this style represents transformation and freedom. Dancers wear bright shawls with flowing fringe and move with light, spinning footwork. It’s a newer tradition that celebrates femininity, strength, and resilience.
Known as the “healing dance,” the Jingle Dress style originated from a vision and is recognized by the sound of hundreds of metal cones jingling with each step. Dancers wear elaborately decorated dresses and move in smooth, rhythmic patterns meant to bring restoration and balance.
Rooted in warrior history, Traditional Dancers move with pride and purpose, telling stories of hunting, battle, or honor. Their regalia often includes feathered bustles, bone breastplates, and war paint—each piece carrying symbolic meaning passed down through generations.
Explosive, athletic, and full of color, Fancy Dancing is the most high-energy men’s category. Dancers wear vibrant, twin feather bustles and intricate beadwork while spinning and jumping to fast drum beats. It showcases both athleticism and individuality.
Flowing, swaying, and full of purpose, Grass Dancers mimic the gentle motion of tall prairie grass. Their regalia features long yarn or ribbon fringe that sways with every movement, symbolizing harmony with nature and a sacred role in preparing the arena for other dancers.
Our youngest dancers, the Tiny Tots category is a heartwarming tradition where children—some barely walking—join the circle in full regalia. With every step, they carry forward their heritage, learning from the community around them and proudly honoring their roots.
Registration will begin Friday from 12 - 7PM. Dancers must be present for all Grand Entries and registration numbers must be visible for judges. Contestants can only dance for placement in their respectful age group. Saturday 2pm Grand Entry will be led by our Tiny Tots.
