The Standing Arrow Powwow Committee was deeply honored to host the Polson School District Elementary Cultural Celebration this year. Events like these are more than performances — they are moments of connection, pride, teaching, and community. Watching our youth step forward to share their culture, songs, dances, and traditions with their classmates reminds us exactly why these gatherings matter so much.

There is something powerful about seeing young people carry tradition with confidence and joy. The energy they brought into the arbor was unforgettable. From the first song to the final dance, the youth represented their families, ancestors, and community with pride. Their smiles, laughter, and spirit filled the grounds and reminded everyone present that culture is alive, growing, and being carried forward by the next generation.

“Our youth were absolutely the heart of this celebration,” one committee member shared. “Seeing them dance with so much spirit and confidence makes us incredibly proud. They weren’t just participating — they were leading with their energy.”

Another organizer added, “These young dancers kicked up dust and brought the powwow grounds to life. They showed strength, pride, and joy in every step. Watching them share their culture with their classmates and the broader community is something truly special.”

The Standing Arrow Powwow Committee believes cultural celebrations create understanding, respect, and stronger relationships throughout the community. By welcoming local schools and creating space for students to experience Native culture firsthand, we continue building connections that will last far beyond a single event.

“To see Native youth proudly dancing beside friends and classmates from throughout the community is a beautiful thing,” another committee representative said. “This is how traditions stay strong — by sharing them, celebrating them, and making sure our youth know how important they are.”

We extend our gratitude to the dancers, drummers, families, teachers, volunteers, and community members who helped make the celebration such a success. Most importantly, we thank the youth.
